Brazilian rosewood (41 years old!) back & sides, Cedar top, 640mm
The fantastic set of 41
years old Brazilian rosewood with some fantastic tiger-like striping that
my Brazilian rosewood supplier from Rio de
Janeiro mailed me last December
started the whole project. I matched the glorious back and sides
with western redcedar to achieve the sweetness
and punch typical of the species.
I added the new Phase 3 measures to enhance projection and embellished
her with rare exotic woods and details to make this one of the best guitars
any guitarist could dream of. To play Saltarello on the 640mm radiused
fingerboard was a true pleasure. The whole instrument reverberates generously
and the basses send huge waves throughout my body. The builders on the
other side of the tempered glass were looking in awe at the terrific performance
of their new born babe... their thumbs up wa all I needed.
The digital db meter matched 93
at 9 feet ! Sensational ! I only heard 1 or 2 instruments that mark so
high. I used Thai Amboina burl for the headplate and Zebrawood for the
bridge. The cross wood fibers of the wood enhance the vibrations of the
cedar top making the match a PERFECT one... I used luxury finish
for the bindings, purflings and linings... The French rosette and the radiused
ebony fingerboard complete the masterpiece. |
