Macassar Ebony concert guitar
Macassar ebony is always a safe bet for a luthier. The wood is so dense that it has many of the properties usually associated with African Blackwood amd Brazilian rosewood. I personally consider Macassar a more precious variety of Tropical lumber. The deep basses that remind me of the guttural sound of a night owl, and the aggressive yet clear trebles that shine in the Asturias video excerpt below. The Italian spruce top adds that sobriety and clarity to the sound that only the Alpine variety can deliver.
The action on this elegant Señorita is easy and extremely comfortable. The hand moves swiftly from one position to the next and the response to the plucking of the right hand is "Flamenco fast".
All in all, Macassar ebony has provided me with a pleasure that kept me playing uninterruptedly for over 20 minutes.... The owner of this instrument is a very fortunate man.
