It is very difficult
having to sell such an outstanding instrument. Every piece of wood contributed
to the creation of an outstanding tone, with BIG powerful sound that you
can appreciate fully in the clip www.nitsugamangore.com/brazilain-rsewoood-concert-guitar-march-10-2008.html.
The basses ring majestically and
the player feels that there is no limit to the power available. I used
a gorgeous 39 years old set of Brazilian rosewood from the Bahia (North
Eastern Brazil area) for the back and sides. The Western redcedar top adds
punch and a quick response. The sound is malleable and the vibratos are
simply SPECTACULAR. Beautiful chocolate brown background grain topped
by some multi colored striping. Playing on the 640mm ebony fingerboard
is easy and a lot of fun. I used Thai Amboina burl for the headplate and
armrest, Macassar ebony for the bridge and fingerboard, Maple for the under
headplate, African Padauk for the linings.
Regarding 650mm or 640 mm guitar
construction, keep the following rule at hand: If the distance between
the tip of your thumb and the tip of your little finger is equal or less
than 9 in. when fully stretched, use 640 mm. (image below). In over 30
years teaching the classical guitar, I have realized that most players
use the wrong scale. This translates in frustration when the player has
to reach elusive notes or make big stretches.
