Lapacho, also known as Green Ebony, is one of the best sounding tonewoods available. It is Paraguay's most  famous wood although it can also be found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. It is as dense as Ebony and this makes it very hard to file, plane and cut. It produces a huge guitar sound with well defined, deep basses and clear, ringing trebles.
